Strawberry Shortcake


1 quart strawberries, sliced
1/2 cup sugar
2 1/3 cups Bisquick baking mix
3 Tbsp sugar
3 Tbsp margarine or butter, melted
1/2 cup milk
1 Tbsp margarine or butter, soft
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
whipped cream

Heat oven to 425 degrees.
Mix strawberries and 1/2 cup sugar; reserve.
Mix baking mix, 3 Tbsp sugar, 3 Tbsp margarine (melted) and the milk until soft dough forms.
Spread in an ungreased round pan, 8x1 1/2.
Spread with 1 Tbsp margarine (soft); sprinkle with brown sugar.
Bake until golden brown, 15 to 20 minutes.
Remove from pan; cool 10 minutes.

Optional
Split layer, place bottom layer on serving plate.
Top with half of strawberries and a layer of whip cream.
Top with other layer and the remaining strawberries.
Garnish with addition whipped cream.
