German Sugar Cookies


1 pound butter
1 pound oleo
7 eggs
3 pkgs Oetker Vanilla Sugar Mix w/
4 cups sugar
3 pkgs Oetker Baking Powder Mix w/
13-14 cups flour
3 Tbsp lemon juice (fresh or conc.)

Frosting (1 batch):
2 cups powdered sugar
1-1/2 Tbsp softened butter
1/2 tsp vanilla
3-4 Tbsp warm milk and a pinch of salt

Add the lemon juice before the flour.
Keep one cup of flour out as not always necessary
Mix 4-6 cups with mixer then hand-mix the rest.
Let dough sit for 4-5 hours or overnight in the fridge.
Put dough in cookie press - the bar shape makes it easy to squeeze out and to frost.
The recipe yields about 14 dozen cookies.
These freeze very well.
Make about 3-4 batches of icing for the 14 dozen cookies.
