Fudge Topped Brownies


1 cup margarine or butter, melted
2 cups sugar
1 cup flour
2/3 cup Hershey’s Cocoa
1/2 tsp baking powder
2 eggs
1/2 cup milk
3 tsp vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts, optional
1 (12 oz.) Package Hershey’s semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 (14 oz.) Can Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk (NOT evaporated milk!!)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  
In large mixer bowl, combine margarine, sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, eggs, milk and 
1 1/2 tsp vanilla; beat well.
Stir in nuts if desired.
Spread in greased 13x9 baking pan.
Bake 40 minutes or until brownies begin to pull away from sides of pan.
Just before brownies are done, in heavy saucepan, over low heat, melt chips with sweetened condensed milk and remaining 1 1/2 tsp vanilla.  
Remove from heat.
Immediately spread over hot brownies.  
Cool.  Chill.  Cut into bars.  Store covered at room temperature.

* Makes 36 to 40 brownies
