Oat Chip Banana Bread


1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups mashed ripe bananas (3 to 4 minutes)
2 cups flour
1 cup quick-cooking oats
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips

In a mixing bowl, cream shortening and sugar.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Add bananas;  mix well. 
Combine flour, oats, baking soda, baking powder and salt;  add to the creamed mixture, stirring just until moistened.
Stir in chocolate chips.
Pour into a greased 9x5x3 loaf pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 60-65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
Cool for 10 minutes;  remove from pan to a wire rack.
