hockey, the way it ought it to be

I had occasion to catch a Canes game while hanging out in a Luxury Suite @ the RBC Center, thanks to the hospitality of Springboard Managed Hosting. Parked in the VIP section, which was awesome. I don't think I'll ever go to another game that isn't in one of those suites. It's just the way Hockey games should be seen. Great view. Two TVs, so you can catch the closed circuit or the televised game, plus whatever else may be happening (we watched the Gators get jobbed during intermissions.) Snapped a pic of my brother relaxing in the lounge area:

The game was pretty good. I was pleasantly suprised to see Brian Holzinger was playing for Pittsburgh. Brian won the Hobey Baker award while I was going to BGSU, and I was lucky enough to have watched him play for a few years in college. He played well, scored a goal and made some plays on the PP units. My favorite Canes player, Radim Vrbada, scored 3 goals, prompting idiots to toss $20 baseball hats on the ice.

A great experiance which I hope to have again in the future.

I also perhaps overstated my irritation with Vrbada ;)... he's shot the puck like he wants to score on every attempt since we acquired him, and I admire that. I just compare his reaction to when I see guys like Wesley (who I miss, dammit) and even Francis when they score or even when guys on their line score.

Know who's been playing really well lately? Boulerice. Scary, I know.

Cat has mentioned that O'Neill seems lazy these days. I can't fault that logic. He played hard against Pittsburgh, though. He seemed to have a bit more fire under his ass.

I think Jeff is having confidence issues. Sat he passed up on what seemed to be several chances to shoot. He seems very tentative with the puck. Particularly on the PP. I think he only had 3 shots Sat. No way he should ever have less than 8 shots.

Boulerice didn't get much ice time v. PIT.
